Semi-Intensive Instruction
At Merit International School of Languages, we know that many students have other commitments and would like to study without spending all day or all week in a classroom. Therefore, we offer a variety of schedules for those students who would like to improve their language skills in English or another language. Students signing up for the semi-intensive program can choose morning, afternoon or evening programs to meet their time and lifestyle requirements.
In addition to English as a Foreign Language, we teach other languages, such as including Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Hebrew, Japanese, and more. Foreign languages are taught for various reasons; business or corporate needs, travel, or just for fun. Emphasis of this program is on both oral and written communication skills. We believe that many students simply want to be able to speak their language of choice because they do not have the opportunity to practice outside the classroom. Our comfortable and nurturing environment enables students to practice language skills without pressure or stress.
Our English language classes are taught at specific levels of comprehension and tailored to meet the numerous needs of our students. Before placing you in a class, we will discuss what you want to gain from learning English, plus your understanding and command of the language. We will then place you in a class suited to your stage of learning where you will be comfortable but continually motivated to learn and excel to meet your goals.
Full-time Intensive Instruction - College and Preparatory Courses
Students enrolled in this program are often seeking an academic-oriented curriculum with the goal of attending a US university. Intensive academic reading and writing, plus note-taking, presentations, current event discussions, and test-taking skills will be addressed. This program covers the skills you need in order to succeed at a university in the United States. We will soon incorporate a visa program for students requiring visas to study in the US.
Evening programs
These special programs focus on working students who would like to improve their language skills. Emphasis in the classroom is on written and oral communication skills. The evening program also works intensively with mature students who would like to improve their language skills in a supportive, comfortable environment. The focus of the evening classes is to help students who are busy during the day, but need to improve their skills to get better jobs, communicate with co-workers and clients, go back to university, or just for fun.
Saturday Programs
Saturday Programs vary according to the needs of students. These include Intensive Conversation Classes, Academic writing, Accent Reduction, test preparation, including TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, SAT, and others. During the Saturday sessions, Merit strives to fulfill needs that are expressed by students, and fill gaps where they might exist.
INTENSIVE TOEFL PREP COURSES
UP TO FOUR STUDENTS! SPACES ARE LIMITED!!
This 80-hour course is designed for students who are serious about passing the TOEFL exam. The class is small and customized, so join quickly!
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
This is course designed for students who would like to improve their English skills for work or personal reasons. Students will practice skills in English through a communicative approach. Relevant, current event topics will be explored, and vocabulary taught through pertinent reading and extensive conversations.

INTENSIVE BUSINESS ENGLISH
In business, the English language has become a necessary skill and tool that bridges the cultural divide of almost all countries around the world. Having the ability to use Business English is now virtually mandatory for companies working internationally.

English for Business: What do we Offer?
Merit ISL Instructors comprehensively cover topics such as external and internal communication, business writing skills, interviewing techniques, participation in meetings, presentation skills, ethics, and business vocabulary. Our Business English courses offer students a better understanding of how to work with native English speakers in a business environment. Courses can take place on either Merit's or the sponsoring company's premises.
